PASE Celebrates 10 Years of Leadership!
It is with deep sorrow that the Partnership for After School Education (PASE) announces the passing of Thomas Pura, a longtime PASE supporter and friend. Tom was one of five boys raised by a single mother, Nancy Pura, in Salinas, California. An accomplished student and athlete, Tom was drafted by the Kansas City Royals after high school, but chose instead to accept a scholarship from Harvard. Tom began his Wall Street career at Lehman Brothers, and upon joining Salomon Brothers became its youngest ever managing director. Tom worked with Goldman Sachs from 1986 until his retirement in 1993 to focus on his family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sara Weinheimer Pura; daughter, Jennifer Laura Pura; son, Thomas Jason Pura; two stepsons, Eugene and Adam DiBenedetto; mother, Nancy Pura; and four brothers, Roger (San Antonio, TX), William (Tampa Bay, FL), Michael (Stamford, CT), and Peter (Troy, NY). We at PASE were privileged to know Tom, and to have his support for many years. His belief in the power of hard work and dedication, his deep commitment to family and education, and his great generosity of spirit will be sorely missed.
Donations in Tom’s memory can be made below through this web site, or mailed to PASE, 120 Broadway,
