Training & Events
Since its inception in 1993, PASE has led the way in New York City in designing and providing training to thousands of in-school and community-based educators in a variety of content areas. PASE’s training offers both theoretical understanding and practical help for beginners, advanced practitioners and program managers. These trainings, combined with agency mentoring and networking activities, have succeeded in making youth agencies stronger, more innovative, and more responsive to the needs of young people.
In addition to sponsoring its own training programs, PASE serves as a clearinghouse where youth practitioners can learn about training available from a variety of sources.
PASE Training
PASE aims to support quality programs through the creation of peer networks for knowledge dissemination, resource sharing and direct collaboration. This kind of collaboration translates directly into more consistent, high quality programming, and thus better educational and developmental outcomes for children. Additionally, this model allows afterschool practitioners to scale up their own capacity in order to support and strengthen practice. The PASE professional development model has helped foster the rapidly evolving afterschool field in New York City and nationally, as more and more cities look to PASE's peer-to-peer models for training and capacity-building. The program accomplishes these goals by:
- Developing staff of all levels in community-based organizations
- Providing access to information on best practice
- Using cutting-edge training practices
To register for training, check out our Professional Development Training Calendar. For an overview of past PASE trainings, please see our Catalogue of Trainings.
PASE holds numerous events throughout the year, including its annual conference, PASEsetter awards, quarterly forums, and funder breakfasts. PASE staff is currently organizing a PASE Young Professionals Event, to provide a networking opportunity for people who are new to the afterschool field.
PASE recognizes the work that individual agencies conduct on a daily basis and strives to provide a space to honor dedicated afterschool field workers as well as foster a community of idea sharing through its events and programs. PASE also seeks to support the afterschool community by promoting upcoming events throughout New York City.
PASE seeks to promote events and programs being held in the community for the afterschool field. To have an event posted on this site, please contact Joey Tsao at joey@pasesetter.org or call 212.571.2664.
